Epta UK gives back to local communities through EptaGives
At Epta UK, supporting our local communities is an important part of how we do business. Through our EptaGives volunteering scheme, colleagues are given the opportunity to dedicate time to causes that make a difference, from tackling food waste to supporting animal welfare.
Recent volunteering initiatives have seen colleagues support Felix/FareShare Yorkshire and Roleystones Horse & Pony Sanctuary, with the help of Participate, demonstrating the different ways EptaPeople can contribute to their communities.
Supporting communities through Felix/FareShare Yorkshire
Colleagues from Epta UK spent time volunteering at Felix/FareShare Yorkshire’s Leeds distribution centre, helping to pick and pack surplus food for redistribution to community groups and charities across Leeds, Bradford and York.
By helping prepare food for delivery, colleagues supported FareShare’s work to ensure good food reaches people who need it, while reducing the amount of food that goes to waste.
The experience also gave colleagues a better understanding of the scale of FareShare’s work and the difference it makes to communities across the region.
Making a difference at Roleystones Horse & Pony Sanctuary
Epta UK colleagues also joined a volunteering day at Roleystones Horse & Pony Sanctuary in Shipley, with support from Participate.
A team of 15 EptaPeople helped with a range of practical tasks around the site, including building an outdoor storage unit, creating pathways, painting and clearing areas of the sanctuary.
The work helped improve the site and support the sanctuary in its work to care for rescue horses and ponies. It was also an opportunity for colleagues to work together outside their usual roles while contributing to a local organisation.
Making time to give back
Through EptaGives, Epta UK colleagues are entitled to eight hours of individual volunteering and additional hours of team volunteering time each year, giving them the opportunity to support causes that matter to them during working hours, with manager approval.
Whether helping redistribute surplus food or improving facilities for a local animal sanctuary, these initiatives show how giving a little time can make a meaningful difference.
We look forward to continuing to support our local communities through EptaGives and creating more opportunities for EptaPeople to get involved.
